I have a lot of HD wmv files (I know, I downloaded them, not my fault).
Can
someone point me in the right direction to converting them to MPEG-2
files. I try TMPGEnc but it only allows DVD res. Whats the best way to
convert to ts and more over a conversion program that will read MS wmv.
I know I am asking a lot! ;-)

I have tried with VLC but it either crashes or gives invalid video, what
settings do you use?

I have today downloaded some Mpeg2 file with the res of 1920x1088 how
did the person create these, I thought (and have read the Mpeg2 was DVD
res only)?

I don't know what tool they used, but MPEG2 is the standard for
broadcast HDTV, so resolutions like 1920x1088 and 1280x720 work fine.
