I'd like to watch streaming video from German TV stations in real
player format using my not-yet-purchased HD1000. Will either the
StreamPlayer app from Roku or the third-party app CinemaSix handle this
format?

Thanks.

The Roku software definitely does not handle Real Player format. I'm not
even sure if Real has made the codec available to parties other than
themselves.

All of Real's codecs are way too CPU intensive for the HD1000. Once VLC
supports these 'open' codecs, you'll be able to transcode and stream to
CinemaSix.
