Discussion:
"Pause" in CinemaSix 1.0 beta

I have noticed that if I leave the playback (vlc 0.71 / http / ts) "paused"
for a couple of minutes, CinemaSix closes and I end up back at the Roku
program menu. Anyone else seen this? Unfortunately when this happens you
have to start the playback again from the beginning of the file. It makes
it difficult see an entire movie if you need to pause it to take a call,
etc. Other problems I've seen are black screen lockups occasionally when
the "rotate" button is pressed and a few times I've had it completely crash
(sad face Easter egg) when first starting playback.

Hmm. Haven't tested the pausing http streams for a long time, but this is
definitely not the desired behavior. The problem is that I'm not sure VLC
will throttle the http stream if I stop receiving data on the socket, but
I'll give it a try. I'll test this on the weekend (I'm out of town again
this week).

As for the sad face, it comes up when CinemaSix detects that the
MPEGDecoder on the Xilleon is hosed (and the sad face informs you that
we're about to reboot).

I have noticed that if the stream is interrupted, even for a short period of
time, CinemaSix hangs it up and the Roku menu appears. Is this 'timeout'
something you can control or is it something inherent to the HD1000. If you
do have control over it I would suggest making it longer or perhaps user
adjustable. In addition to the CinemaSix 'pause' causing the program to
shut down, I have seen the same thing by briefly pausing vlc (I was looking
for an alternative way to pause the program). In fact, this might explain
why 'rotate' occasionally causes the program to shut down as well.
