I know this must be obvious to everyone but me, but...

... why are there no apps that play Mpeg 1's on the Roku? I know that I would
find this useful with the video I make. Will anyone be adding this
functionality?

Thank You

I believe vlc has an option to convert it to mpeg 2 on the
fly...assuming you use vlc to http stream the video to hd1000.

Thanks for the wicked turnaround on my post.

Yes, I have tried conversions with VLC only to get audio problems and flat
out play stoppage. I have been unsuccessful with streaming to the Roku.
This may be to my lack of understanding on how to use the program or an
actuall software issue that some people suspect.

... why are there no apps that play Mpeg 1's on the Roku?
Probably because the HD1000 has hardware acceleration specifically for
MPEG-2. Anything else will require software decoding or transcoding,
which could easily require more CPU power or memory than what the
HD1000 has available.

Converting the video to MPEG-2 on a much faster system is probably the
easiest solution. See the suggestion about using VLC.
