Player Launched

Sigma Designs and Vertex Link has announced MediaWiz HD, a wireless
networked HD (high-definition) multimedia player that enables TV output of
both video and photo content stored on a PC using its wireless network
interface. MediaWiz HD operates as an extension of a home entertainment
network, as well as a simple wireless set-top box (STB) for low-end video
on demand (VOD) systems, replacing current wired systems, according to
Sigma and Vertex.
MediaWiz HD is also equipped with the Sigma Designs EM8620L. The EM8620L
enables video decoding of Windows Media Video 9, and supports IEEE802.11G
(broadband wireless LAN standard).
A wireless network interface, compliant with IEEE 802.11g is included as
standard equipment. The IEEE802.11g wireless interface enables streaming
(playback) DVD quality moving picture that requires high bit-rate for
transfer, via wireless LAN. Consumers are freed from the complexity of
connecting LAN cables as virtually all movies and video content can be
played-back via wireless LAN.

Nowhere does it say it is capable of handling HD streams wirelessly! It may
output 1080, but I would bet the only source video it can handle is "low-end
video on demand (VOD) systems,"
